This is two events, we have limited capacity for Yara’s Pub Quiz and therefore tickets which include both events are limited in number, with greater capacity for the ‘In Conversation’ tickets. Tickets are either for both events or just the In Conversation, there will be a short break between events while we open doors for the wider audience after the quiz.
YARA + DAVINA Live in conversation 7:30pm
Unfailingly inventive, YARA + DAVINA use formats within popular culture to make works which are accessible and playful; believing art can and should create social change through the act of social practice. Their work has been exhibited and commisioned by Tate Modern and Britain, Venice Biennale, National Portrait Gallery, IKON, Somerset House, Arnolfini and more.
Join us for an intimate evening where the duo will be discussing their social practice, how they shift around the role and value of art, who art is for and what it can be, live and in person.
Yara’s Pub Quiz 6 – 7pm
“Witty and perterbing” – The Guardian
Join artist Yara El-Sherbini as she hosts a playful pub quizes in our Oak Room Bar for an hour before the main in conversation event. This is no ordinary pub quiz; expect questions ranging from global politica to flavours of crisps by the way of squirrels and espionage! This work was originally commisioned by the Arnolfini, for Breathing Space.
Yara uses the accesible format of a pub quiz to create radical spaces for both difficult and humorous conversations about the world. Tickets for this part of the evening are limited due to the capacity of the space.
Tickets for the pub quiz at 6pm include entrance to the in-conversation at 7:30pm.
We are incredibly sorry that due to a lack of an accessible lift in the building, the Pub Quiz is not accessible for wheelchair users or people who are unable to climb the stairs to the bar. Please contact us if you have any questions about this. We are developing plans to address this in future, but it will be quite a major renovation to the building and so our sincere apologies for this event.
