From taking cinema out to care homes, to running workshops, events and tours for schools, Curzon Cinema and Arts is so much more than just a cinema. Steeped in local and national history, the cinema that was saved by the community, for the community, is the cultural heartbeat of Clevedon: connecting audiences with the arts via film, events and educational activities.

A gift to Curzon Cinema and Arts in your will has the potential to leave a transformational legacy for everyone in your community to enjoy.

It will enable us to continue to move people through cinema, ensuring that we can delight at least another 111 years-worth of cinemagoers with special movie moments. And what’s more, because your gift would be to a registered charity, we would only ever spend the money on our much-needed charitable objectives.

Gifts to charities are exempt from inheritance tax which means that leaving a gift to the ‘Curzon Clevedon Community Centre for the Arts’ may help reduce your tax liability. As everyone’s tax situation is different, we strongly recommend discussing this matter with your solicitor.

How gifts have helped

Gifts in wills, small and large have made a huge difference to our work. We are grateful to all our supporters who have left us a gift in their will or made a pledge to do so.

Miss Janet Biggs

In 2022 The Curzon received a generous gift from the will of Miss Janet Biggs. This donation arrived at the end our appeal to raise funds for our balcony. We were delighted to use the gift towards bringing a beautiful but disused part of this historical building back to life so that thousands of people can enjoy it year after year.

Types of gift you can leave

A gift of any size will make a difference to The Curzon. After you have provided for your loved ones, please consider making a gift to our charity to help secure the future of your local independent cinema.

There are three types of gift you can leave in your will:

A share of your estate. After you have looked after your loved ones, you can leave a percentage of what remains to charity. This is known as a ‘residuary gift’.

A fixed sum of money. This is when you leave an exact sum. This is known as a ‘pecuniary gift’.

An object or collection. In certain circumstances we would gratefully receive an object or collection. However, we hope that you understand that this may be difficult for us to look after or sell, so if you are considering leaving an object or collection to the Curzon, please do contact us to discuss.

Unrestricted gifts to our charity are particularly valuable as they allow us to use your donation where the need is greatest. However, if you would prefer to support a specific area of our work, please contact us in confidence to discuss the options.
