A seaside town sits in silence, long after the midnight bells have chimed, with the sound of a late-night DJ the only comfort for the restless. But an uncanny spell is being cast, and old secrets are disinterred. There’s something in The Fog and the inhabitants of Antonio Bay are about to discover the bitter truths as they celebrate the town’s centenary.
Few horror filmmakers rival director John Carpenter, dripping with legendary titles such as The Thing, They Live, Assault on Precinct 13, Escape from New York and Big Trouble in Little China. The Fog was a chilly change of pace for Carpenter, following his breakout success with Halloween. Bringing back scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis from his iconic slasher, as well as Janet Leigh (Psycho) and his wife Adrienne Barbeau, this is a deeply atmospheric film filled with genuine characters, backed up by yet another classic score from Carpenter in the composer’s seat.
Alongside Poltergeist, The Fog is a tale of America forced to confront what was repressed in its haunted foundations. What is the price of modern prosperity… and what happens when it’s got its briny hands around your throat?! This 4K restoration captures the particular eerie hues of Carpenter’s hometown invasion.
We are incredibly excited to announce that we will be partnering up with DJ Cheeba for this immersive evening of thrills, music and more. As the magic of the film seeps out of the screen and into the cinema with special effects never before seen at the Curzon, we will be pulling out all the stops to make this the spookiest thing you’ll see all year. In a cinema as old as ours, it may be hard to tell where the special effects end and the real ghosts begin…
Come down to the bar before the event for a drink in the bar as the chill sounds of DJ Stevie Wayne serenade you from afar through her KAB radio. Then join us in the bar after the event where Cheeba will be spinning a DJ set inspired by the film’s iconic soundtrack.
Bar open 7pm
The film will begin at 8pm
DJ Cheeba’s set will begin at 9.30pm
