Screening as part of this year’s Cinema Rediscovered; this 4K restoration of Serpico celebrates the Neo-noir’s 50th anniversary.
Ticket holders can arrive from 6pm for a behind-scenes look at this magnificent, Grade II listed cinema (including access to the projection room and a demonstration of the original Christie organ) film starts at 7.30pm. We’re thrilled to have Season Curator Andy Willis (Professor of Film Studies at the University of Salford and Senior Visiting Curator at HOME in Manchester) to introduce this screening.
Today remembered for Al Pacino’s dynamic central performance as an NYPD cop resisting the corruption all around him, Serpico is a classic film of the paranoid 1970s, one that offers a detailed depiction of a system gone bad.
