The Curzon is very excited to announce the launch of Season One, our brand new programme.
Whilst this may not be our first rodeo at the age of 111, this season heralds a new way of curating our programme which we hope leaves you feeling as exhilarated as us. Building on the history of the Curzon as being much more than just a cinema, these events embrace the potential that lies in our beautiful and unique heritage venue replete with staging and a bar as well as the latest in big screen projection technology.
From live music and DJs to author talks, live comedy and spoken word, Q&As and collaborations. These new seasons and the strands in them, are intended to draw together the arts that lie beyond, but within, film.
When browsing through the new programme, you’ll see we have new strands which tie together events throughout the season. We celebrate human endurance and a love for the stories behind Outdoor Adventures, whilst Connections is all about community and commonalities, reminding ourselves how we connect, inspire and grow by nurturing local roots with global ideas.
Off The Page includes talks from respected authors and dynamic ways of experiencing spoken word. Nappy Mondays are for the parents and carers out there while Classic & Cuppa pairs outstanding film with a coffee/tea and biscuit. Our Event Cinema screenings of Royal Opera and Ballets and National Theatre Live continue while we have expanded several screenings to include a live opera singer serenading you before the screenings.
Halloween and Christmas are celebrated with a host of well-loved classics with some added extras to create a lasting impression and we have one immense Immersive screening of The Tales of Hoffman in Dec as part of the national BFI Powell & Pressburger Season.
There’s a lot to get excited about and a lot more to explore so dive on in.
