Reel Bad Arabs + Talk

Dr. Jack Sheehan was a Lebanese-American academic, author and film consultant. Here we explore his vast body of research into how the stereotyping and vilification of Arabs by the American film industry still impacts our society today, bringing his findings into a contemporary context. In an age where ‘trigger warnings’ have become more commonplace to warn us of sensitive subjects or words/actions in older films as we view them under a new light: discussion on how the Hollywood behemoth has shaped societal bias is a necessary and pressing topic for anyone consuming film or interested in how societal beliefs are shaped and manipulated en masse.
