What’s happening with climate and nature, and what does it mean for everyday life in the UK? Join us for a community* screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing– an eye-opening film bringing together nine leading UK scientists and experts with the latest evidence on what’s happening with climate and nature and why it matters, covering areas including:
- Extreme weather
- Food security
- Health
- Cost of living
The film is based on the National Emergency Briefing in Westminster (featured by ITV, Channel 4 and The Times) with appearances from Chris Packham, Deborah Meaden, and a range of voices from across the UK. Offering an exploration of how the climate and nature crisis is affecting everyday life in Britain, and what the evidence says about the risks and responses, this film is offered as a launchpad for informed democratic discussion, and to ensure that Parliament and the public share a common understanding of the scale and urgency of the challenge ahead.
The film is 50 minutes long and will be followed by a discussion encouraging us all to digest the film’s themes together and how we can push for local and national momentum to inhibit this deepening crisis.
The event and discussion will be hosted by Charlotte Howell, co-Director of Parents For Future UK where she’s trying to make taking positive climate action for our kids as normal as putting dinner on the table. With a background in communications and creative campaigning, Charlotte has helped grow Parents for Future UK into one of the UK’s largest grassroots climate organisations. It’s now a diverse, welcoming and resilient movement that makes climate action accessible for busy parents. The climate and nature crisis is at a critical juncture. But the reality we now face, and the biggest drivers of that threat have been masked from the public. That’s why Charlotte feels the National Emergency Briefing campaign is so brilliant and vitally needed. “There is still time, but it’s going to take everyone coming together to halt this crisis. And folk simply aren’t going to get involved if they think everything is hunky-dory. That’s why Parents for Future are working with the National Emergency Briefing team to help transform concern into positive collective action”.
