The 1995, Cannes-winning, coup de cinema quickly achieved a cult status that it’s held onto almost 3 decades later. La Haine blew up the film scene like few other films have done, uniting audiences and catapulting a marginalised conversation into the mainstream. It set the bar high and continues to resonate, sadly growing in relevance rather than being consigned to history. Its visual style, killer soundtrack, and social commentary will be celebrated and explored in this big screen outing with added extras.
DJ Ngaio will be on the decks before the film, a killer soundtrack deserves a killer DJ to open the event with.
The film will be followed by a Q&A with exploring the themes of the film with Senior Lecturer in Film Studies at UWE, Humberto Perez-Blaco and Gary Thompson, founder of Cables and Cameras, hosted by Camille Abrahams (Clevedon School) and Petra Mansour (Curzon).
