Second floor plan

A top view of the cinema screen. Notice how it's curved, so that the whole surface is the same distance from the projector and the picture is sharp over the whole area. Electric winches controlled from the projection box open and close the curtains, and also the black 'masking tabs' which change the shape of the visible screen from 'widescreen' to 'cinemascope'.

Beneath the sound-absorbing blue cloth are the left, right and centre speakers. Peeping out in the middle is the back of an old, now unused speaker, dating from the 1950s. On the brick wall you can see the metal frame that held the original screen when the cinema was built.

That's the end of the virtual tour. Please keep an eye on the local press, our what's on and Curzon Collection pages for dates when you can come and see for yourself.
