a new admirer, Alfredo Germont, who confesses his
love; but trouble brews when Alfredo's father demands
that she renounce his son to avoid scandal.
This 2007 production at La Scala of one Verdi’s most
celebrated works sees Angela Gheorghiu in her acclaimed debut
as Violetta, leading an all-star cast which includes Ramón
Vargas and Roberto Frontali. Courtesan Violetta Valery meets
a new admirer, Alfredo Germont, but Alfredo’s father
demands that she renounce his son to avoid scandal. Back in

she is deathly ill with tuberculosis. Alfredo becomes contrite
as he learns the truth, but it may already be too late to
ask her forgiveness.
