New Arrival at the Curzon
Our new man brings a wealth of experience of cinema operation and film presentation. Prior to joining The Curzon Gareth was responsible for film programming and marketing at The Wyeside Arts Centre in Builth Wells, and has undertaken a similar role at the Norden Farm Centre for the Arts in Maidenhead. Chair of Trustees Hilary Neal, said, “Gareth offers the wealth and breadth of skills we were looking for, with a strong background in marketing and wide experience of both commercial film programming and screening of specialist film. I am confident that Gareth will fit in well with everyone at The Curzon, and settle very quickly into the local community.” As the only full time employee Gareth takes over the running of the project from Jon Webber, who has been at the helm for over ten years and who retires next month. Of his success in securing the position at The Curzon, Gareth said: "I feel privileged and excited to be taking up this post. I believe that even now, two decades into the multiplex era with more ways to see a film than ever before, there is a place for independent cinemas that focus on serving their local and regional community. The continuing success of the Curzon - a venue which celebrates its heritage while looking to the future and embracing new technology - seems to bear that out. I look forward to playing a role in that ongoing success as the Curzon approaches its centenary."
