Volunteering Opportunities

We are always on the look-out for volunteer helpers, ranging from ushers to help us with film screenings to people with specialist skills as occasions arise. The Curzon is run as a charity, and as such is heavily reliant on volunteer help alongside the skilled staff. Training is provided as necessary.

Following the recent building works, part funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, the 98 year old cinema is opening earlier each evening to allow visitors to look round the new exhibition areas.

Ever since the Curzon building was taken over by the registered charity in 1996, we have relied on volunteers to supplement the paid staff. These have ranged from the team of Trustees who make up the Charity's Board to the ushers who greet our customers and tear their tickets every day. In 2011, we are aiming to increase access to the building and the Curzon Collection of Heritage Cinema Projectors, expand our education work, and utilise the Oak Room for a wider variety of events. To help us fulfil these objectives, we are always looking to recruit people for:

  • guides to the exhibition and the Curzon Collection
  • maintenance of the building
  • selling drinks and snacks in the new Oak Room Lounge area
  • distributing Curzon publicity
  • help with organising and running fund raising & promotional events

We regularly get enquiries from members of the public asking if there is a way to become more involved in the Curzon’s work. We are hoping that a wide range of people will take this opportunity to join the Curzon’s team on a regular basis. Contact us.
