35mm Westrex Projector & Kineton Platter

Representing the final development of film delivery before the advent of Digital cinema. Designed to reduce operating costs this clever machine permitted film to be presented to the projector from one platter and collected by another head-first, thus requiring no rewinding. A second film could also be ‘loaded’ for projection on the unused platter. The platter system was used widely in the multiplex cinemas. The projector on display here is a Westrex 35mm. The whole assembly was donated to the Collection by Pat Scott of S&G Cinemas, The Ritz, Burnham-on-Sea.
