Unfortunately the most of this
projector has long since been lost but what remains is
around 90 years old, possibly more.
The Gaumont Chrono developed
in the Leo Gaumont factory in Paris dates back to the
first days of cinema. They were a popular projector with
Bioscope shows and in the early cinemas. It is known that
a Gaumont Chrono was used sometime between 1912 and 1916
in the first Picture House in Clevedon which was the first
cinema on the present site where pictures have been continuously
shown since 1912.
The search still goes on to
complete this artefact.
