The model 2 had a Maltese
Cross movement for the intermittent which was an improvement
on the previous models having a ‘beater’ movement.
Produced by Houghton-Butcher of London this silent hand-cranked
was aimed at the institution, educational and home market.
The projector has a 1000ft capacity. The mechanism with
the Maltese Cross has the minimum of flicker.
The low voltage light, which
was plugged into domestic supply of the time, offered
the maximum of light without fire risk with the nitrate-based
film it used. Pictures of up to 20feet could be projected.
With this projector came the ability to use the vast range
of films in the Butchers film Catalogue. The projector
cost 95 shillings (£4:75) 1914
