RADIO CORPORATION OF AMERICA (RCA) 16mm
PROJECTOR
Rescued from certain
destruction this projector is representative of the British
built (under license) RCA Victor 16mm projector.
The projector no longer works
and has been removed from its blimp so that the engineering
can be seen along with the thermonic valve and amplifier
Note also the size of the mains transformer and the style
of labelling.
Introduced into the UK in
1935 it is distinctive for its blimp. It has all the facilities
for its time for sound film projection including a 1000watt
lamp and a standard 2 inch lens. Still picture is achieved
by the use of a clutch.
There is a speed control for both silent and sound film
projection. The projector has been removed from the blimp
to show the amplifier and the arrangement of thermonic
valves. Whilst not complete it is displayed as received.
Victors were manufactured in the UK under licence from
RAC / Victor Co. of Camden, USA.
