BURVILLE 16mm sound
An extra ordinary one-off. Designed and manufactured by
Leslie Arthur Burville soon after WW2 it bears resemblance
to a number of 16mm sound projector designs around at
that time. It has a ‘slot’ type film gate
path, rather like the GB L516. The projector runs at 110volts
and has a 1000watt pre-focus lamp. The amplifier has a
10watt output. As it was not greatly different to other
projectors available after the War it seems that this
was the only production model and had limited sales. This
artefact is therefore quite rare today. 1947
The projector was designed and manufactured at the Burville
Industries factory near Eastbourne. This information comes
from Peter and Jill Burville, sone and daughter of Leslie
Burville.
