BELL & HOWELL 57 FILMO
16mm
Donald Bell & Albert Howell collaborated to produce
non-standard projection equipment and in 1923 released
the Filmo 57 range which continued production until 1931.
This model is a pedestal mounted projector with the adjustable
tilt by a central pivot. It has a friction speed control
but no adjustable gate mask to allow framing. The lamp
is 500watt pre-focus. There is a lever for opening the
film gate and rewinding is achieved manually by a geared
crank on the feed arm. One drawback with the projector
is the pivot which becomes slack after much wear. Another
is the closeness of the sprockets to the lens mount.
A revolutionary projector for its time. Shown with the
projector is a 16mm Filmo camera.
